Seeing vs talking vs dating? What's the difference?

Just that really. I'm online dating and when in conversations with men (sp?) they often use these words to describe their past and I can't quite understand if there is a difference. To me, you are dating until in a relationship- the other two just confuse me.

What is the difference?

Seeing someone would mean just casual no labels, dating meaning too early to say your in a relationship, just getting to know them phase but make an effort to go out on a date opposed to 'seeing someone' probably just round their place for a night in.
Just talking well that means you fancy each other's pictures and some flirty messages but haven't met up.

To me, seeing means dating, but talking means the early bit when deciding whether to bother going on a date. I think to some people "seeing" can mean a causal NSA thing, but to me, it's another word for dating - eg; "I was seeing this bloke for a bit, but then decided I didn't like the idea of being in a relationship with him"

All you need to know is that men who make these fine distinctions are generally players with more than one woman on the go. Or would like to have.

Ask them.

Everyone will have conflicting definitions and perceptions of what they mean by certain phrases terms - there was recently a thread on here where someone had one expectation of a FWB benefits situation and the bloke had a very different take on it (and the opinions on here varied a lot too).

So if it matters how they're defining a relationship, you need to get them to say what they mean. Not bring your own assumptions and not ask.

In my area seeing and dating are the same thing,

Talking men's chatting and flirting, usually online. Seeing someone means something casual. Dating means something that has the potential to be some a relationship, but isn't there yet.

Seeing / dating is interchangeable for me

Talking is more just right at the start we’re you maybe flirting a bit and are interested but haven’t been on a date etc yet
