Cost of divorce

Me and my husband are over. I don't feel anything anymore, the years of being treated like shit and belittling have just come to a head and I can't take anymore.
We don't own a house live in a 3 bed housing association house. We have some savings roughly 5 grand but a loan that needs clearing, plus a cock up with tax credits because he didn't inform them properly of his new wage. I don't work so I'm not sure how I would manage with the rent etc, if we both agreed to a divorce is it cheaper and quicker? My head is all over any advice would be appreciated

I think you need some legal advice and check out citizens advice website. Do you have children? You will have to agree who would take over the tenancy on the house?

I did paperwork for my divorce myself and had solicitor review to keep costs down!

My divorce cost me 2 grand, that included coming off the deeds of the house. She let me pay 100 per month then the rest when my settlement came through at the end.It took a year from start to finish.

My divorce was £550. I did it myself online. With saying that I had sorted out the financial bits previously with solicitors help. I think that was about £500 to, but we had already thrashed things out & agreed things between us which kept the cost down.

Husband said If we both agree apparently you can get one for £550

Yes £550 is the cost for court fees. So if you can agree everything between you, then that's all it need cost. Mine was that.

What would you do about your home? Are you joint tenants? You won't get a cheaper rent than a council property.

IronNeonClasp · 08/10/2020 08:53

Mine was £550. I took the house on and bought him out. We have kids and wanted them to have some security. He rents now and my house is tiny I really didn't want to take it on but was in a better financial position.

My divorce has cost me more than £15k so far, because my ex is a dick and has been dragging everything out for 2 and a half years Angry
