I sometimes feel like my husband only asked me out because he couldn't get anyone else

Been with my husband for 9 years, married for 3. We met online 14 years ago and at the time he was heavily crushing on a girl who wasn't interested and knocked him back. After this he became interested in me and he asked me out. He's always said how he was never good with girls and they were never interested in him. I was his first girlfriend and he was always jealous of his best friend who always had girls flocking around him (as a teenager). I'm probably being really insecure but all of this has always made me feel like he got with me because he couldn't get another girl so just settled for me because I was there and interested in him. Anyone else had this?

Yep, felt like I was plodding through life with him. When we split, he started seeing the first woman who asked him on a date (from a dating site) and they've stayed together despite him saying he wasn't sure he was interested in her after the first few dates. Kinda confirmed my feelings that he'd rather just have someone than be single Biscuit

He settled for what he could get, you came along, no effort required. easy

He's an arse hole.

Just to add, we're happily married and love each other very much. He's never said he settled for me and this has all come from my brain.

What has brought on these thoughts at this time ....

I think it depends on how he acted with you when you first got together. He could've felt like he had struck gold when you were interested in him! I think you're being hard on yourself, he might think no one wanted him and you settled. You're happily married so I would just focus on that Smile

Probably more your thinking, maybe he was a bit insensitive talking about previous women he was interested in but unlikely he made himself be with you, there must of been something about you that made him want to settle with you.
I would talk to him maybe he could put your mind at rest.

Maybe that’s what threw you together in the first place, it might be why you had a date in the first place, but I bet he would be mortified if he thought you were thinking that’s why he married you and built a life with you.
