Is anyone else incapable of only buying what they went in for?

I'm making carbonara for dinner. I needed to get bacon and parmesan cheese. Nothing else.

I leave the shop weighed down with a dozen items and I spent 10 minutes dithering about whether I should get wine or not.

Please tell me I'm not the only person who can't JUST buy what she needs?!

Wondering why this in Relationships OP?

Pikachubaby · 04/09/2020 19:25

It’s about OP’s relationship with food Grin

I do the same, it’s because I am a slave to marketing and impulse buys 😂

On the plus, it all gets eaten so no waste

SoulofanAggron · 04/09/2020 22:27

Me. I mean it's a cliche/classic line isn't it? I usually end up spending over £20 whatever I went in for.

BertieBotts · 04/09/2020 22:28

That's how they get you! Supermarkets are designed specifically to make you do exactly this. It's not your fault :o

Anordinarymum · 04/09/2020 22:28

Always and every time OP. This is why I am broke :)

TheBeesKnee · 04/09/2020 22:50

Omg I meant to put it into chat Blush but yes sure let's go with my relationship with food!

Not my dh. I send him to the shop to pick up a few bits and will only come back with those things and no chocolate for later. Its as if I need to tell him we need choclate for later every time.

BillywilliamV · 04/09/2020 22:53

Went for fish.. spent £85 , not including the £20 we accidentally shop lifted!

Oly4 · 04/09/2020 22:54

Yes every time. We seem to eat it all though

category12 · 04/09/2020 23:19

What BertieBotts said.

H1978 · 04/09/2020 23:34

Yes I’m the same but mine is always junk food I really don’t need but convince myself I haven’t had in a while.

SandyY2K · 04/09/2020 23:41

I totally understand. I pop out for milk and bread and I'm 30 quid lighter.

elp30 · 05/09/2020 00:08

I'm the same OP.

What is really irritating is when I send out the husband and he buys only what I tell him to buy. I sent him out recently for milk, toilet roll and eggs. He came back with milk, toilet roll and eggs.

Argh. You pass the wine aisle, the frozen food aisle with ice cream, and the snack aisles on the way to get milk, toilet roll and eggs. Why didn't he pick that up?! He should have freaking known ;)

PeppersYellow · 05/09/2020 00:10

Always used to be like this but since civid I can't get in and out quick enough so just get what I went in for!

FinallyFluid · 05/09/2020 00:27

Basically what PeppersYellow said.

We have a weekly delivery, and anything I need over and above this and I am as we say in this house, in and out like dose of salts.

I had Costco cracked pre Covid, so my trajectory in there is super fast and I go at what I consider to be the quietest part of the day.
