should this have been seen on a scan? worried (ladies scan!)

I had an internal scan to look for infection. Said the lining of the womb looked thicker than it should but nothing major. Then they said they could see Fallopian tubes and ovaries and looked fine?

I’ve read almost everywhere that an internal scan can’t pick up Fallopian tubes unless they is something wrong (ie they are swollen or blocked etc). Is this right? I’m worrying so much! I’ve asked the gp and they gave a wishy washy answer that usually they are not visible.

They can see my ovaries on an internal scan and the clips on my tubes. I have huge fibroids and a thick womb lining and an inverted uterus. So I’ve had a lot of internal scans

If you had an infection you would have other symptoms. Really bad smelly discharge, a temperature etc

You need to talk to your GP about some counselling for this issue as you are so anxious about it. I think you need some CBT

Oh they could even see the ovary follicles on a scan apparently, gynae told me I was not near menopause for this reason 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was questioning what they’d said as as far as I know it’s not a good sign for tubes to be seen !!! So how they managed to say they’d seen them and ok doesnt make sense.

I don't know what nonsense you've been reading on the Internet but they most definitely can see everything inside you - not necessarily that clearly depending on how things lay etc but they most definitely can see ovaries as they use an ultrasound to remove the eggs during IVF egg collection!

I have internal scans and I know that they can ‘tell/see’ the scar damage from a previous infections on my tube & when ive gone for check ups they say it all looks ok. I honestly don’t know how or any medical terminology or what they can seeing.
I know that the internal scans hasn’t picked up my endometriosis.

I've got recurring fibroids so have had several internal scans, they've always been able to see my tubes 🤷🏻‍♀️
As far as I'm aware there's nothing at all wrong with them!
I went with my friend to her scan (for cysts) a while back and they pointed out her tubes too. I've never heard that you're not meant to be able to see them!

They could see my Fallopian tubes with an internal scan when they were searching for my ectopic pregnancy.

Can we take it that perhaps sometimes on ultrasound that things look ok, because they don’t look not ok? So there is nothing abnormal of note to be seen there. You really do not want to push down the road of a laparoscopy do you? They aren’t that bad, but they are invasive surgery all the same. It had infection in my stitches after they went in keyhole surgery to check around in there

I think what I don’t get is that you should have a dye test or something to check if they are blocked (so I’ve read), so how come they can tell they’re not just by a scan.. surely means there would never be a need for dye!

I’m in a state generally at the moment so I am getting anxious and know a lot of it is silly and over thinking

They are only going to do something invasive on you for a good clinical reason in the NHS. anxiety is not clinical reasoning. You really do not want to have invasive testing do you? Every invasive procedure has a risk of infection.

If you do really have to know, go privately and get all the testing

I've seen my perfect ring of pearls around each polycystic ovary in the past on a scan - looked textbook, so they can deffintley pick up things. As other poster said, you'd most likely have bad or increased discharge and some lower abdomen discomfort if you had an infection, and an STD test would of spotted it rather than a scan.
