How much do you & SO contact each other during the day ?

Just that really, a random Q!

I'm a SAHM, my DP works 6-7 days a week (depending how busy he is ) he is often Out 8am, home by 7pm, sometimes much later.(Hospitality Manager).

We message through out the day and he usually calls on way home or if longer hrs, will call once in the day too.

We are the opposite so I usually work 7-5 and he is at home, I would usually message once in the morning, afternoon and call during lunch and on the way home if I can. So sounds pretty similar, why do you ask?

For reference my mum and stepdad are always texting and calling like all day long and it drives me nuts! They can’t go 30mins without talking..

Only if we have info to pass on generally. Neither of us is good at replying, I don't look at my phone from one hour to the next when I'm working and DH is not a text chatter.

My DH and I both work full time and would only text/contact each other if there was a specific reason, ie DH might text to ask if I wanted something from Tesco but that's about it 😀 It would drive me potty if he contacted me two or three times whilst I was at work.

Not much at all. Usually one 'what time will you be home'? text. Occasionally a random one about something silly. No real chatting though.

When we get a quiet couple of minutes at work one of us would text the other, probably 2 /3 hours? And a chat on the way home because he has a long commute and I wfh

It's not a long day, I leave at 8 and am home for around 4:30 - 5:00. I don't text DH unless it's to agree a shopping list to pick up on my way home. He doesn't text me unless I've forgotten something.

DH will call usually once in the day (which I'd rather he didn't tbh, I hate taking on the phone). A few WhatsApps back and forth, that's about it really. Unless there's something urgent or important, I don't really expect to hear from him though.

I text a few times a day, usually pics of the kids, he may reply once to give me a rough eta for getting home. We only call in an emergency.

No need to be in constant contact as he's busy.

Never we’re both really busy at work, no time for chatting or texting. We’re both working at home now and it’s exactly the same although we will dump a hot drink in front of the other person if one of us makes one.

Virtually never. Neither of us have our phones at work, DP isnt really contactable unless theres an emergency.

I like it like that, TBH. I dont think id like someone twittering at me all day.

Rarely unless we need to say something (can you pick some milk up on the way home/ I’ll be working late etc.) We work opposite shifts and will occasionally the one of us at home will send a particularly cute picture of the kids.

Not at all. Only to pass on time sensitive information. We chat when we are together. We work when we're working.

With my current chap, we don't live together so we keep in touch a lot. Lots of regular check-ins and suchlike.

When I was married, we'd only text/message if there was something specific to say like "we need milk" or "going to be late". (Or in the late stages to have painful conversations by text in order to make me cry at work.)

I wouldn't really see the point in messaging loads if you live together, but each to their own.

My husband is out the house from 8am -6pm. We generally only have a couple of texts at lunch to check in.

It varies but usually we speak 2 or 3 times a day while we are both at work

We don't text each other very often. Most of our texts are shopping lists or asking what time the other person will be home. Not exactly the epitome of romance haha

Never without a specific reason, e.g. reminding someone to make a phone call, pick up some milk on the way home, asking about a specific pressing concern, or passing on important information, or letting the other person know they will be late home. When I'm at work, I'm working, and it's a 20 minute walk home, so we talk when we are together.

Never. Unless somethings happened that I need to make him aware of. I can manage a day without wittering at my husband. He’s not usually contactable anyway.

When we both were in the office 9 - 5 usually just when I was leaving work, to see what time he would also be home. Sometimes a message on a lunchtime.

If he is working away he rings me early evenings.

If not one of us will ring as they head home to see if there is any shopping needed.

There's no need for more, unless something has happened

I message him if theres something I need or theres something he needs to know. Otherwise I don't bother.

Always first thing in the morning and then depending on work maybe 3/4 times during the day (quick calls or WhatsApp messages) then probably a couple more times in the evening and then always at bedtime.

Hardly ever, only if it's really important.

Our relationship pre-dates mobile phones so it wasn't a part of our early years together, and that has continued.

All through the day, but we don't live together and only see each other once every week or two

DP lives on his own which I think makes a difference, there's less contact when he has his dc over.
