So annoyed, XP's GF's family telling DD she doesn't look like me, that she looks like GF!

so , the girlfriend's family are saying that your daughter, who is not a blood relation, looks like the girlfriend? ? is that right? ?

how bonkers!

like they are trying to stake some sort of claim to your daughter

mytwopenceworth · 26/09/2007 20:11

They are bonkers.

I suppose there's no chance you'll train her to say "How could I look like you, we're not related. I look like my beautiful mummy"

Surfermum · 26/09/2007 20:19

Or to shout "I DO NOT LOOK LIKE CRUELLA DE VILLE".

Tamum · 26/09/2007 20:19

Tell them I'm a geneticist and in my professional opinion they are talking bollocks. Thank you

LittleBella · 26/09/2007 20:21

LOL at their madness.

Don't let it wind you up.

Just tell her to say that she may look like the GF, but unlike her she's mentally stable.

Oh well, maybe not.

I can honestly say that she looks very much like you, so ignore their madness( I know easier said than done!) Trying to undermine your relationship with dd and worm their way into her affection.

tribpot · 26/09/2007 20:25

That is so stupid. I've heard of occasions of it happening where random strangers have said "oh doesn't [presumed dd but actually child of someone else] look like you?" but this seems like a sustained propaganda campaign, the bloody loons.

It's like they almost think that your ex (arse) is passing her off as your child when actually it's the gf's?! How mad is that.

I'm just trying to think of a nice way to spin it for your poor dd, maybe something like "it's because they love you so much they would like you to be part of their family" or something?

prettybird · 26/09/2007 20:26

How did I jsut know that this would be your ex-p's gf?!

That just proves that thier reputation goes before them!

Just keep on reassuring your daughter - in the long run, it will only alienate the gf and her family as your daughter will see through them.

She knows who her mummy is!

VeronicaMars · 26/09/2007 20:26

Could you teach her to say 'my daddy says I'm beautiful like my mommy'

edam · 26/09/2007 20:30

I like Veronica's suggestion.

Daft people. And so nasty, upsetting a little girl. If you are too nice to use Veronica's line, I guess all you can do is reassure dd and tell her exes' gfs family are being very silly.

Bless her heart. Joking aside it must be horrible for her.

FGS. She's your daughter. What a bunch of losers trying to make her think she looks like someone completely unrelated. It's very odd behaviour. I would consider reducing visits to ex DP and GF and take your DD on holiday instead.

Very strange people out there.

Aims - I always wonder why your dd enjoys her time with her dad. He strikes me as a complete arse. I think you're doing extremely well to shield her from the arse-ish-ness at present, I just feel for you going forward, knowing that at some point - not due to you - dd will realise the arse-ish-ness in play At least you have done everything you can to keep contact civil - and that is no mean feat under the circs!

SleepIsForTheWeak · 27/09/2007 19:29

Aims, LOL at the ugly mask comment!!!!
Brilliant, I wonder if she heard?
But besides that - what nutters!
