Hand holding needed - ending a marriage

I need to end my marriage. It has been alternately bad/bearable ( I have not been happy) for years now and I can't do it any more.

I want to get my ducks in a row. Luckily I came into a bit of money in April, so can afford to do this now. I need a checklist o& things to do, people I should contact etc.

We rent, and although I can afford this place in the short term, we will need to move.

I have 2 kids, 14 and 9. I have health issues so may be able to get a council place?

Who can I contact, where can I get help/ advice?

TIA

Do you have any assets or money you'll need to split? If so, get copies of valuations, bank statements, pension statements etc. Start talking to the council now if you think you might be entitled to a house. Look into benefits and child maintenance. You can sort the divorce yourself but might want to get some advice especially about the money you have as he may be entitled to some of it.
