Buying a house and no family around

Hello,
together with my DH we are about to purchase our very first house which I am very excited about. However, recently I started to think about how our life will be when we have no family around. All our family is in eastern Europe and hardly ever visits. We have no plans moving or relocating to be nearer due to work and life preferences. We have friends all over the UK and I wondered how will we manage when kids come along and there is no family around? I really do not want to lead a lonely life.
Has anyone been in a similar situation and how would you cope and where did you find new circles of friends ?

The arrival of children can be very isolating and highlight how far away family are.
But on the other hand, NCT classes, baby groups etc can make it a lot easier to meet people than it might be without children.
I’ve been in this country for 14 years and have met more people and made more friends through my children in the last 7 years than I did in the previous 7.

We moved to a brand new area right before I got pregnant with our first and I found it the easiest way to meet people. Between NCT / antenatal, pregnancy yoga, baby clubs etc - if you make an effort and are open to forming new friendships it is definitely possible
