Does anyone have any experience with family therapy?

Am very aware that this is long overdue for our family but one member of the family is very resistant and says they are unwilling to participate as it's just an 'opportunity to gang up' on them.

Your experiences of how this process has gone for you would be helpful for me.

Thank you.

Hi OP, when was 15 I had family therapy with my dm, step father and siblings. Step father was a horrible bully, didn't think there was anything wrong with how he interacted with us and didn't want to be there. His resistance to working through our problems made the whole process pointless.

I'd be interested as well, we have a pretty odd dynamic with ends up with the DC distancing themselves from my DH.

I've thought long and hard about leaving him for this reason, but maybe if we could get from them why and thoughts and solutions it could be eye opening.

Yes, I was involved with family therapy, but tbh it was pointless as we had a family member resistant, they wouldn't engage and didn't want to be there.

They went nc with me at the end of it.

It helped as they said some terrible things, which I won't forget but at least I tried to fix something that was very broken.
