Anybody else hearing from ghosts of the past in isolation?

So this week 2 men who previously ghosted me have decided to add me on FB!!

A further, far more significant, ex has messaged me on WhatsApp after not speaking for over a year/not seeing him in 3 years!!

Anybody finding social distancing has the unexpected side effect of ghosts from the past coming out of the woodwork?

As much as I shouldnt, I am loving this and replying is a guilty pleasure with me Wine.

Debating whether to private message one of the FB adds despite him ghosting me via text after our date in August!

I very glad to say that so far no ex of mine has got in contact!

Ghosts from the past!!! Grin Grin Grin
Hilarious

BuzzingButterfly · 28/03/2020 18:56

My father decided to do a reappearing act in my inbox. Wish he hadn’t.

mamato3lads · 28/03/2020 18:56

Yes!! How weird! I've had one friend I've not spoken to in almost a year message me yesterday and a guy I used to work with, who I haven't seen in months and never really spoke to anyway. Hmm

Isolation is doing weird things to people, glad it's not just me.

WineInTheSun · 28/03/2020 19:05

It’s very strange!! I really think isolation is doing weird things to people and perhaps making them more reflective? I am secretly loving it but no I shouldn’t!

Sorry Buzzing about your dad, I know not all ghosts from the past are light hearted and can be triggering Flowers

They arent ghosts, they are leaches.

I deleted my social media last year so tf I'm avoiding that nonsense. Ghosters are usually narcissists and they contact you because they are running low on other supply rn what with being stuck inside. Block block block.

bibbidybobbidyboo · 28/03/2020 19:12

I've heard from my ex and several of my friends have also told me they've heard from theirs. Would seem it's a pandemic in its own right...

Snap - ex husband has started texting about the kids after 3 years of no contact.
Trying to bite my tongue and be civil - it’s quite hard !!

ChanklyBore · 28/03/2020 19:48

The owner of an air bnb I stayed in last year, whom I met once to get the key and once to drop off the key, has friend requested me on Facebook this week. We do not speak the same language.

Not a thing! Interesting thread though. I think a lot of people are re-evaluating their lives at the moment

Sunflower20 · 28/03/2020 20:23

Yep, heard from a significant ex after 1.5 years of no contact. I didn't reply.

Craftycorvid · 28/03/2020 20:27

Thought this was metaphorical and was about to say yes, been mulling over some relationship disasters whilst in lockdown. I’ve thought of a few former friends too, but much as I hope they are ok, they are former friends for a reason and I wouldn’t reconnect if they got in touch.

springisolation · 28/03/2020 20:49

I had two exes contact me before the coronavirus

peonyfairy03 · 28/03/2020 21:31

No I’m not but my DH is which has caused some friction today.

20wedding19 · 28/03/2020 21:40

This isolation business must be doing things to my head as I literally thought you meant real ghosts. BlushGrin

category12 · 28/03/2020 21:43

I don't think it's making them more reflective, it's more likely they're at a loose end and going through their little black books.

leolion81 · 28/03/2020 21:55

Yes! A guy I dated last summer and haven't spoken to since October messaged, apparently he was going to drop off some of my things but can't now because of lockdown. He's had 5 months Grin

prettycolours · 28/03/2020 21:55

Had a message out of the blue last night from a guy I had an affair with 2 years ago. I couldn't believe it! I didn't even think he still had my number.

madcatladyforever · 28/03/2020 22:45

My first husband who I haven't seen or spoken to for 18 years and who was violent and abusive suddenly sent me a message via facebook wanting to know how me and "the kid" is. The "kid" is 38.
We share an adult DC who he was not allowed to see, I got a court order when we got divorced. DC saw him a couple of times out of curiosity when he was 18 but hates him and doesn't make a habit out of it.
Why on earth would this bellend think I'd want anything to do with him? Isolation must be sending him round the bend.
Anyway I haven't replied and he has no idea where I live. I'm not afraid of him in any case but it's just so bizarre hearing from someone after so many years.

septsapp · 28/03/2020 22:47

Yes! Crawling out the woodwork 🙄

Gwenhwyfar · 28/03/2020 23:17

Totally normal to contact people who were once significant to you at a time when we're all thinking about our mortality. I haven't been contacted, but I think I will to the contacting.

DysonFury · 29/03/2020 05:01

Boredom. That is the reason.

TigerDater · 29/03/2020 07:57

I’ve been both the contacter and the contacter. Fear and boredom.

TigerDater · 29/03/2020 07:59

Contacter and contactee. Obviously

mumieone · 29/03/2020 08:18

Yes I heard from a very old boyfriend of two years. Lives in Switzerland and suggested maybe after all this is over maybe we should go away for a nice break in the mountains 🤣😂

A second...lives in France ...just over the ferry. Known 10 years but distance issues....told him to jog on October. He's back...called me on Facebook and is apparently writing me alerted. Well I can't wait ...he needs to use Google translate to do this 🤣😂
