Anyone else worried for people on dv situations with corona here

I am but I'm not in an abusive situation. I am separated but can't bear to think of people trapped with their abusers for weeks on end .
I was trapped in a loveless marriage with a distant and absent man who lost his temper every now and again, and while never physically threatening , always made me feel like we were walking on eggshells .

Yes, it's been discussed on the Feminism board. It's likely to be bloody awful for some women (and their children).Sad

Someone commented somewhere that police forces are alive to this and prepared for an increase in DV call outs. .

PicsInRed · 19/03/2020 19:23

As someone with a volatile ex, Dery I'm relieved to hear that. Very relieved.

I was quite concerned to hear of the deprioritisation of murder investigations and the pausing of the Shipman laws. It all seemed like an enormous loophole for raging men to step through.

Fairycake2 · 19/03/2020 20:39

I'm not in this situation myself but I really feel for anyone who is

pinkstinks · 20/03/2020 05:35

Yep but don’t worry us DV workers are prepared. Groupwork has been paused which is such a shame as a lifeline to many women but we are thinking on our feet. Also being drafted in to collect donations for food banks and women in refuge and being ready to answer phones/live chat.

Yes extremely worried.
I spent 7 years in isolation with my abuser and was only allowed out twice a month for supplies.
This was a very long time ago now but I'm getting a sicky feeling in the pit of my stomach for victims whose situation is going to be made worse by no means of escape.

YangShanPo · 20/03/2020 06:22

Yes I think MN should have some guidance available for people in this situation about what to do, and who can help.

I also think they should make penalties for abusers even worse to take into account the way their behaviour is endangering public health at this time.

There was a lady taking about an app called Opensky that can be used by people being abused or people wanting to provide support.

I was meant to be moving with my children in April away from my ea stbexh. Now I am bloody well stuck here for god knows how long (self employed, my industry has been severely impacted by the virus), and feel like a fucking daily fail headline. It's utter horseshit
