Therapy for me about narcissist alcoholic mother

Hi all.
I am realising my mother appears to have strong traits of both alcoholism and narcissism. (Whether one has an effect on the other is yet to be determined)
I very much want to untangle and resolve as many knock on issues in my head as possible as well as learning coping mechanism for interacting with my family.
I also would love to re-program negative and fearful thought patterns ingrained from an early age.
I kind of feel like I need un-brainwashing!!!!
Which kind of therapy/therapist would be most effective and sympathetic? I don’t want to be re-traumatised or sucked into a life time of re-hashing the past!
Thanks in advance! Xxx

Take a look at BACP. You can put in a search of keywords such as: 'alcoholism' 'narcissist' 'family abuse' etc Make up a list of therapists and then call them. Find one that you gel with and seems to 'get' what you're saying.

You may also find support groups helpful. Try Napac for those abused in childhood. Al Anon for those affected by others' alcoholism and Nacoa for adult children of alcoholics.

These are some good YouTube counsellors on narcissism:
Surviving narcissism
Dr Ramani Durvasula
Melanie Tonia Evans
Sarah Speaks
Richard Grannon

You might want to do some research on Complex PTSD.
