I was thinking about the most memorable present I've ever got and to me it was my kitten, I got her in middle school and I was so happy because having a cat was my dream come true. What was yours? And what was the most memorable present that you've given to someone?

Not completely my story, but my DD's friend gave her a photo calendar with their school photos, when my DD was leaving for college. It was nice, and DD loved it and cried for a while. Later on I even asked the girl how did she do it, to make the same calendar for my friend.

bunch of flowers containing the same types of flowers from DW's wedding bouquet, for 1st and 10th anniversaries - that was very well received!

also, 1 christmas when DW had lost her wedding ring, i got her a replacement, engraved, and then we had it blessed in the christmas morning service at the church in which we were married (all a surprise for DW)

was also very well received!

For my last birthday, my husband commissioned a local artists to paint a picture of my two cats on a large piece of slate (it was copied from my favourite photo of them). I absolutely love it!

My sister can sing and I asked her to sing something by a band I liked, which was long. She sang all of it! This was after I'd just split with a wrong'un. I was very touched by that.

I bought a friend a gizmo for Pokemon that catches monsters and items for you. This meant he could collect stuff while he was driving. He loves it. Smile

My friend at uni was studying journalism. For my 21st birthday he made me a framed newspaper article which summarised my life, what I enjoy doing and who my loved ones are. I loved it.

He made (actually made himself, not had it made) the most perfect little gold pendant for me of an image that has huge personal meaning for us both. His presents have always been a bit shit and generic, whereas mine are always really personal, even if not obviously showy or expensive. That pendant came absolutely out of nowhere and I burst into really ugly snotty tears because of it. I think I expressed my thanks by saying 'You would fucking do this when I haven't got any tissues, wouldn't you?!'

He knew how much it meant to me from that Smile

My DD1 has recently presented me with a painting of a local place that we go to a lot, beautifully done and with my three dogs enjoying themselves. Two of the dogs are gone now and much missed. The painting is by her partner's mum, whose work I hugely admire.

I was so touched that she'd thought of it, arranged it and found enough photos of our dogs that the artist could capture their natures so well. It's beautifully done too, and a lovely view to look at.

I cried.
