Just as the title really! Need a distraction from feeling fed up of being single!

Quite reserved as there are obviously far more distant and exotic places, but honestly, the loveliest holiday I've had was to Sorento. We did trips from there to the Amalfi Coast, as well as Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. It was 20 years ago and i'vee since been to a few Carribean Islands, Bulgaria, Lapland, Montenegro, as well as the more popular European resorts and nothing has come close! Not cheap....but well worth it.

I'm tagging myself on this post, looking for somewhere to go too, for my first solo holiday! Grin

booboo24 · 08/01/2020 09:45

My friend went away over christmas to Cape Verde through a company specialising in solo travellers. NOT singles ie with a view to dating, just people travelling alone. She said it was fantastic as there was no pressure, the only time they were expected to be together was at the evening meal but she thoroughly enjoyed it and loved the place

Bora Bora!!!!
My dream destination.
I'd also love to see the Northern Lights.
Although I don't like boats, I'd love to do a cruise to the Arctic.

Pub4Games456 · 08/01/2020 09:52

I would buy a round the world ticket & explore lots of places that I've not visited yet. Id want to take at least a year, maybe 2 years with a good amount to spend per day eg £100
Not been to Australia, Japan, China, America, Canada, South America, Antarctica, Arctic, Norway, Nepal, Russia yet

HundredMilesAnHour · 08/01/2020 09:54

Tasmania. I went a few years ago but only for 6 days which barely scratched the surface. There's so much to see there and I would love to go back!

Weenurse · 08/01/2020 09:57

Disney world or Singapore or New York

ExtraneousDetail · 08/01/2020 10:03

I’m 60 and have been holidaying with DH since we were 17. We’ve been to lots of lovely places all over the world, but my favourite by far is Florence. So, my perfect holiday would be to stay in a villa (with a pool!) somewhere in Tuscany with lots of day/overnight visits to some of the beautiful towns and villages - Pisa, Lucca, Siena, Montepulciano, etc etc. Bliss 😀

Paros, greek island, early season. Perfect weather, no crowds, relatively unspoilt.

jamaisjedors · 08/01/2020 10:47

@booboo24 what was the company if you don't mind me asking?

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 08/01/2020 10:55

If money were no object, I'd like to go to a desert island, somewhere like the Maldives, or Mustique..

Middersweekly · 08/01/2020 11:21

Japan or the Maldives I would say Smile

beguilingeyes · 08/01/2020 11:22

East. Japan or Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia

booboo24 · 08/01/2020 11:24

jamaisjedors it was friendshiptravel.com

imgonflirtwiththedevil · 08/01/2020 11:26

New York is on my list. As well as a few East African counties, Uganda and Kenya in particular.

fishonabicycle · 08/01/2020 11:27

Best recent holiday was north Spain. 3 nights in Santander (cool bars etc), 4 nights in a little village in up in the Pico's De Europa, 3 nights at the beach in noja. Bloody brilliant - particularly the canyoning in the mountains! Me, husband and 17 year old all had a fantastic time.

MotherHeggy · 08/01/2020 11:29

Porlock Weir here in Somerset. Beautiful peaceful spot

chocolateandpinkgin · 08/01/2020 14:39

I went to New York last year, it had been on my bucket list for years. I loved it and want to go back but take the kids this time.

Also on my list I'd love to visit is San Francisco and Las Vegas. Lindos (in Rhodes, Greece) is amazing, as is Santorini - visited both and would definitely go back. Kefalonia looks beautiful. To be honest I'd just love to go Greek island hopping! Maybe one day when the kids are older Grin

Gran Canaria is fab - the couple of times I've been, we've stayed in Puerto Rico. Lovely beaches and lots of nice places to eat.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 08/01/2020 15:06

Bora Bora. I am planning on going in a few years.

SilverySurfer · 08/01/2020 16:50

Venice but I'm disabled and walking is not an option.

Albufera Portugal, circa 1962 when it was a sleepy little fishing village with sardine boats pulled up on the beach as opposed to now which is concrete and hotels

cornstarch · 08/01/2020 16:59

Disney world. Epcot calls

LeGrandBleu · 08/01/2020 17:00

My dream destination is the Marquesas Islands, 1400 km from Tahiti, one of the most remote islands in the world.

When we were in New Caledonia, on the Isle of pines, I couldn’t believe how blue the water was, every shade of turquoise , cobalt, deep blue, it looked photoshopped, and I was commenting it to the skipper of our boat, he snorted and told me “ if you think this is blue you have never seen the Marquesas islands. “ so now I want to go to the Marquesas Islands and check!

katscamel · 08/01/2020 17:20

One of my favourite holidays wasn't exactly relaxing, it was a 3 week overland trip from Cape Town to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe through Botswana and Namibia.
Trying to choose 1 place for my dream holiday now is far too difficult.... Guadeloupe, Vanuatu, Armenia, Macedonia.... where I end up will depend on how much I win on the lottery Grin

Knotaknitter · 08/01/2020 18:49

Vancouver Island.

Fly to Vancouver and then take the sea plane across to Victoria, hire a car and drive up to Tofino. After a long walk along Long Beach I'd get friendly with the ferry timetable and do a bit of island hopping.

mindutopia · 08/01/2020 19:35

Sri Lanka. It’s amazing.
