I was reading a thread here yesterday where someone was comparing herself to the women in Zoo & Nuts magazine at the time I thought "but even the women in the photos dont look like that, they have been ruthlessley photo edited into what men want to see"

The best example of before & after I could find on the net was here - the finished picture has had the skin tone, texture and hell even the belly button altered. Select the picture you want to look at, roll your mouse over and wait a second!!

Seen this before and it is amazing what they can do to chaneg the appearance. Everything is fake!

kitsandbits · 17/08/2007 16:36

bloody hell

fryalot · 17/08/2007 16:37

am going to show that to dd1 who is always comparing herself (unfavourably) to top models

that is amazing.

ambercat · 17/08/2007 16:39

makes you realise how fake the fashion/magazine industry is.

contentiouscat · 17/08/2007 16:39

I've always been a "take me as I am or F**k off" type of person but I just think its really unfair that some women are comparing themselves to the "after" shots and making themselves unhappy.

wow thats fab, now I wont feel so bad when I look in the mirror

meandmy · 17/08/2007 16:43

WOW
love it, they have crows feet, smile lines, waist and bust changed, speckly skin, open pores pmsl
love myself now!
not that i compare myself to airbrushed models with more cash than sense!

fryalot · 17/08/2007 16:43

showed dd1:

She was suitably shocked

thank you

ally90 · 17/08/2007 16:44

Love it. Going to now email to all male friends And female friends. Feel like a model now...

contentiouscat · 17/08/2007 16:46

In the case of the mens mags some lengthen legs, narrow thighs, shade cleavage etc. etc.

So next time you see a star in the street & think "oh she looks a bit rough" you know why LOL

Nbg · 17/08/2007 16:52

There is another website that someone linked on here ages ago with the same thing.

It had a load of slebs on.

Makes you feel alot better

contentiouscat · 17/08/2007 16:54

Nbg - I only dip in & out of mumsnet or it takes your life over doesnt it LOL

I was just thinking about the other thread yesterday and wanted to find an example to show that comparing yourself to a magazine image is futile, these "perfect" people dont exist.

OP posts:
kitsandbits · 17/08/2007 16:55

god, i want one done, lol

Nbg · 17/08/2007 16:56

i have a feeling it was that site

MyTwopenceworth · 17/08/2007 16:57

I'm not impressed, I am saddened that women are apparently so unattractive in our normal state, that we have to be adjusted.

No wonder we have so many problems with body image and self esteem.

warthog · 17/08/2007 18:24

have a look at this one...

princessmel · 17/08/2007 18:30

Oh my goodness thats awful. It didn't look anything like her in the end.

multitasker · 17/08/2007 18:39

Excellent links. I try not to buy glossy mags because the ads are so unrealistic, and even though we all know this I think it still messes with your head.

MarshaBrady · 17/08/2007 18:41

crikey
and the blonde one with the big smile, changed her face shape etc..
it's kinda scary.

sparklesandwine · 17/08/2007 19:00

its a bit bizarre what they do isn't it and very unfair to know young girls especially will try to live up to this - i think i will save the link to show DD when she is older incase she ever worries about her image
