Going to Cornwall tomorrow. Does anyone know of any places to go where people go crabbing with kids as in the crabbing where there will be shops that have the crab bait and wire thingy and buckets. Hope that makes sense haha

Falmouth pier

FrannySalinger · 20/09/2019 18:57

Falmouth, and you can get the ferry across to gorgeous St Mawes

Sparadrap · 20/09/2019 18:58

Which part of Cornwall?

keiratwiceknightly · 20/09/2019 18:58

Padstow if in the north.

northdevonnewbie · 20/09/2019 18:59

Which bit of Cornwall? Odd post tbh!

DropZoneOne · 20/09/2019 18:59

Looe

Herewego93 · 20/09/2019 19:00

Thanks everyone, I'm going to stay for a week in Bodmin which is sort of in the middle of Cornwall. Don't mind driving a bit.

Definitely looe, don't forget to buy some bacon to put in the nets!

EskewedBeef · 20/09/2019 19:02

Yes to Looe. It's a nice little town.

Herewego93 · 20/09/2019 19:03

Haha yeah it is a bit odd but me and my partner did it once and reckon our daughter would love it. Cheap family outings and all haha. I'm also planning on going to Newquay Zoo and the Eden project if anyone's been, is it good for babies?

I personally think the Eden project is slightly overrated but my dd loved the seal sanctuary near Porkellis

lippy72 · 20/09/2019 19:29

Try hidden valley great day out not too expensive not far from Bodmin !

anothernamejeeves · 20/09/2019 19:30

Did you mean to post this in relationships?
Anyway the slope into the harbour at padstow is where we usually go

Freefalling123 · 20/09/2019 19:31

Another vote for Looe, good to wander around in and a nice beach too

Orangepearl · 20/09/2019 19:35

Not sure the crabs will be too happy. Pointless if your not eating them?

musicinspring1 · 20/09/2019 19:37

Mevagissey

GreatBritishbakeofffan · 20/09/2019 19:38

Padstow, easy to park, crabbing gear available in many shops by the harbour, ice cream shops and plenty of Cornish pasties Smile

category12 · 20/09/2019 19:38

Looe is the place to go for crabbing, nice little town, boat trips and nice beach all within walking. This weekend is Looe Live, so you might want to leave it until after that.

category12 · 20/09/2019 19:39

The crabs get a free lunch and some excitement.

MonstranceClock · 20/09/2019 19:42

Newquay zoo and Eden are fine for babies. Eden's a but of a rip off though if you're not local.
Crabbing is good in Looe, I think you can also do it in Fowey.

Herewego93 · 20/09/2019 19:43

Thanks everyone. Mumsnet is the best! I'll screenshot this and delete it now

Also try the seal sanctuary it's amazing and passes are valid for a year

GrannyHaddock · 21/09/2019 21:16

Pandora Inn at Restronguet, in the Falmouth area. Lovely pub and setting on a tidal inlet. Wooden deck with tables juts out into the water for crabbing. Check the tides and avoid low water, though. It's a really special place.

BananaPlant · 21/09/2019 21:39

Looe

Mevagissey

You need bacon, not the bait they sell in the shops. The crabs love it.

hopelessbusiness · 21/09/2019 21:48

Don't bother with Eden!! Expensive and not much for littleys. Mevagissey good for crabbing, there's a shop there that sells all the bits and pieces you need. Enjoy Cornwall!!
