People with Samsung phones can you help me work something out please?

On a Samsung phone you can be in the photo gallery and decide to send a photo to someone so you can press that share button (which looks like 3 dots in a triangle with two lines on two sides) and then select WhatsApp and then some suggested contacts come up.

Are these suggested contacts random? Is there anyway one of them could be someone that's not been contacted for a long time? Obviously this is what DH is claiming - "it's just some random professional contact that he worked with over a year ago, no idea why that comes up"

I'm skeptical obviously!! I have an iPhone though and don't know my way around a Samsung too well.

So just to recap - it's the very specific was of starting off in the phone gallery and selecting a picture to share and then WhatsApp that I'm asking about...

I've just tried it on mine and it's come up with my most recent/ regular contacts. Sorry op xx

trotesio · 29/08/2019 08:11

Once you click on the Watsapp icon you're 'in' Watsapp (although what you see on the screen doesn't change) and Watsapp lists your most frequently contacted contacts.

Floralhousecoat · 29/08/2019 08:12

Hi, op. I have a Samsung phone and when I share pics from my gallery, it's always the most recently contacted or most frequently contacted that would come up as suggestions.
He is lying, sorry to say.

AvocadoLovingMamaOfOne · 29/08/2019 08:12

I just did this on my samsung to check for you and it came up with my DP, sister, and 2 friends all of which I've messaged on WhatsApp within the last few days
However if he doesn't use WhatsApp much then it may just be a random selection from his contacts?

If you are on Mumsnet questioning whether your partner is being truthful or lying to you about his phone then you have a big issue in your relationship regardless of whatever the truth is about the phone.

Chupchup · 29/08/2019 08:14

When you click share it can bring up random outlook people etc, but the WhatsApp contacts are my most regular or recent (Not sure which).

saltysow · 29/08/2019 08:14

Just tried on mine and it comes up with most frequently contacted first, then regular contacts, then everyone else.

Roussette · 29/08/2019 08:14

I've had samsung and I'm still android. It obviously offers you your last people you contacted on whatsapp, not just random ppl.

unfortunately the answer is still the same as it was on your other thread about this. Your "D"H has undeniably been contacting her. Not necessarily sending her photos (of the two people it offers me I only send photos to one but I message the other one daily) but she is definitely one of his most WhatsApped contacts

Weejo39 · 29/08/2019 08:15

Yup, I've just tried it and the three most recent pics I've sent to contacts came up DS, Ex and DP. He's lying. Keep your powder dry, he'll slip up soon....

HunterHearstHelmsley · 29/08/2019 08:15

Mine has most recent contacts at the top, then frequently contacted then my address book.

Ligresa · 29/08/2019 08:15

If i click to share a pic in my gallery it comes up with a list of icons of apps that i can use to share. It also suggests four contacts (before I've selected an app), three of which are totally random contacts that i havent contacted for ages - seemingly selected at random from my contacts.

Once i select whatsapp it opens whatsapp which clearly says most recent contacts.

CheezePlant · 29/08/2019 08:16

So the list I saw was a horizontal list with circles before the name (possibly with initials in) - is that what you guys are talking about?

OP posts:
Fannybaws52 · 29/08/2019 08:16

I very rarely use What's App so just tested the share pic and it offered me the last 3 folk o did message with plus the list below that is in order of whom I contact most too.

He is lying. Sad

HunterHearstHelmsley · 29/08/2019 08:17

Sorry, frequent and then recent. It even says so above the list.

CheezePlant · 29/08/2019 08:18

Thanks for that useful insight @user1474894224 😂😂😂😂

OP posts:
Ligresa · 29/08/2019 08:18

If that was before you selected whatsapp, then I also have a horizontal list of circles, four of them.

Three are random contacts from my contacts. One is my most recent whatsapp contact.

Three

CheezePlant · 29/08/2019 08:21

Hmm possibly it was before I selected WhatsApp then

OP posts:
Iminagony · 29/08/2019 08:22

Yes the options it gives you in circles are frequently contacted or recently contacted. I've never had random ones come up.

CheezePlant · 29/08/2019 08:22

Bugger. Thought I'd got myself a name but don't think I have

OP posts:
Nellamelia · 29/08/2019 08:22

Yes 4 circles in a line, I just tried it, the first three are whatsapp contacts for the people that I must send the most pics to. They are not my 3 most recent messaged people but I have messaged them all in the last day. Weirdly the 4th circle is an email contact for an HR officer that I was contacting about a job reference a few months ago.

Ligresa · 29/08/2019 08:23

Yeah my first three are email contacts of random work people i have never messaged!!

AnnaFiveTowns · 29/08/2019 08:24

I've just looked on mine. The top 3 are "most frequently contacted" - it actually says this. Followed by "most recent chats" in order. The are not random.
