WIBU to accept money offer

Been very stressed recently, terrible anxiety and just generally feeling bonkers

Was talking to boyf last night and he offered to clear my overdraft to help me get back on my feet and relieve some of the stress
He said don't worry about paying back, if you have it fine but don't get stressed about it

I told him I didn't want to take money from him and that's not what I see him as (a few of his mates borrow money off him)
But now I'm thinking how good it would be to start this payday at zero rather than minus

Would I be grabby if I accepted his offer?
How do I mention it if I do?

I have £150 from HMRC coming next week so that would go some way to paying back

Accept his offer and pay back some very month :)

How long have you been seeing each other? How much is the overdraft? How long would it take you to pay it off yourself if you really made an effort to? How long would it take you to pay him back if same?

Obviously answer is going to be different if you’ve only been seeing each other a few weeks or months; but assuming this is a steady medium-term relationship then I’d accept it as a loan and make it clear you’re going to pay him back, to the point of setting up a regular payment to him in online banking when he transfers you the money - even if it’s only a relatively small sum each month. You then both have the option of revisiting this in the future if he says again that you don’t need to keep paying him back. Next time you see him you can say “I’ve been thinking about your offer to help me out with my overdraft and it would take such a lot of my stress away that I’d really like to accept it, I’ll pay you back, here are the terms etc.”

That's a good idea thank you

We've been together 18m and the relationship is great

I can't see me clearing it myself there's always something to pay
I think realistically I could do £80-£100 pm plus the £150 I get next week

It's £900
