What's the deal with this?

I've noticed a few times that dp has Instagram message requests coming through on his phone. From what I can tell these only come through when you are not friends with the sender and haven't exchanged messages with them before. I did find it a bit odd so I had a look and it looks like spam accounts (names with lots of random letters/numbers with very few followers). Couldn't see the content of the messages but it definitely sounds like spam. The thing is they were all the same sort of thing - sexy lady accounts :/

My dp has never given me any reason not to trust him. He doesn't even really use social media! So why is he getting these? Is it indicative of the things he's been searching for on Instagram or something? I'm just finding it odd as I've never had a message request and I use Instagram a lot. Any input?

My dog (yes, dog ) has an Instagram account and we've recently been getting similar messages on there. I can guarantee that we don't search "sexy lady accounts".

My tee ager has Instagram and gets lots of these.

Hi, relax, I use IG quite a lot and only follow decor and seasonal accounts and get flooded by messages like that. Spam is just spam. They send it to anyone.

Nothing he is searching for. I know I sometimes get those and I am certainly not searching for anything like that.

I'm not gay or bi and have never shown an interest. But still these offers come in!

I get those all the time on Instagram whenever I like or comment on a public page and the pages I usually like/comment on are about knackered mums and badly behaved kids.
