Husband grabbed my neck. I called the police. What now?

This is my second post and I am so glad I had so many responses. I am feeling better now.

So I called the police tonight and gave them our names, address and date of birth. They advised me to go to the police tomorrow afternoon which I will do.

Can someone let me know what will happen. There?

Will they press charges immediately?
What if DH says we just had a very hot fight?
Would they prosecute him even without my consent?

Xx

Hi, sorry for what sounds like an awful time you're having.

The police will take full details and a statement. They will probably look to arrest him quite quickly, he may be bailed while they get information together for a prosecution. He may be bailed with conditions to not come near you/contact you. They can prosecute without your blessing, but don't always, they would want your support with it. It's hard to say for definite but these are the things that might happen.

What I would say is stand firm - you have absolutely done the right thing and been incredibly brave. Stay strong. I'm sure DH will use all manner of excuses but nothing makes it right, and remember that they see these things all the time (sadly) so are used to excuses. Again - it doesn't make what he did ok. Good luck Flowers

Why start another thread?

Have you decided he IS violent and you do want to support a prosecution?

RubberTreePlant · 03/05/2019 05:48

Okay three threads.

So he WAS the aggressor? In that case, you're doing the right thing.

The police will take a statement from your verbally that you will then sign.

He will probably be arrested quite quickly, and most likely bailed (to another address).

It really would help everyone to advise you if you linked all the threads together, at least.
