Hello everyone. I am not sure if I have placed this correctly. Switched on and the PW thread 2 has disappeared!! Shall we try again? I didn't even find Thread 1 until it had been sent away.

Probably not the best place - The Royal Family topic wouid be best

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/the_royal_family

the existing thread in there has gone a bit quiet

Redglitter · 29/04/2019 16:41

Since it's nothing more than rumours it barely warrants one thread let alone a 3rd. How about letting it drop

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 29/04/2019 16:42

You haven't. Try the Royal Family board, as Mumsnet doesn't have a pointless and malicious gossip topic yet.

PicsInRed · 29/04/2019 17:29

To he fair, the continued existence of the royal family hinges entirely on their popularity - which under current norms, requires them to be "likeable" - and upon William being Diana mark 2 not Charles mark 2. If William turns out to be more like Papa and less like Mummy, what's the point of patiently waiting through Charles?

Oddly enough, this snippet of hot gossip has potentially major constitutional implications for a large number of states. Then there's the likelihood of the break up of the UK without the monarchy. This thing is a tinder box.

This is 2019. The internet is 99% fake, including Mumsnet posts. This 'snippet' has 100% likelihood of fuck all happening. Because the story is just not true. Wink

noodlenosefraggle · 29/04/2019 19:07

Why would a rumour that the 2nd in line to the Throne may have had an affair have major constitutional implications when the first in line to the Throne having along term affair and then marrying his mistress doesn't or all the others previous kings that were openly unfaithful didnt? The break up of the UK will not happen because there is no monarchy, it will happen because of Brexit. The Royal Family constitutionally are almost entirely irrelevant constitutionally.

NameChangeNugget · 29/04/2019 19:11

Shall we try again?

Please don’t Biscuit

PortiaCastis · 29/04/2019 19:11

Give it a rest, gossip started by a low twatter tweet is never the gospel truth

PicsInRed · 29/04/2019 19:45

If you look at the common refrain from monarchists it goes something like this:

"Well, Charles is a filthy muppet, but William's lovely, he's DIANA'S boy, what a caring and sharing monarch he'll be swoon 🤪"

All nonsense of course, but if the Diana swooners are disabused of their (likely mistaken) belief that William is "lovely", all you have left is a few fusty traditionalists between the status quo and another populist referendum. If the UK abolishes the monarchy, it ceases to be a politically relevant institution as nominal head of state (shall we move Court to Sydney?) and there will be a snowball effect of republicanism.

This could get interesting. 😉

noodlenosefraggle · 29/04/2019 19:52

I suspect the last monarch has already been born. But I don't think the end of the monarchy will be due to any infidelity. That is par for the course. They can and do do whatever they like. I suspect a younger generation just wont be bothered about them anymore and they will serve no purpose.
