Go for it! There is nothing better. You don't need anyone. Do exactly what you want. And have a lovely gin for the flight helps I find (hate flying) you will manage it all and actually I think you meet a lot more people if you are alone. Enjoy your trip!

dancingqueen345 · 17/04/2019 07:48

Is it one of those solo travel trips? If so you're all in the same boat and everyone will be looking to make friends, usually just a smile will encourage someone to start a conversation!

Make sure you have a book with you in case you do find yourself alone and also a pack of cards- nothing bonds a group like bringing the cards out!

TheRoadBeneathMyFeet · 17/04/2019 07:52

You will be fine. I felt exactly like you before my first solo trip and I had a really good time. The people who book onto these things are usually very open. I did have a book with me when we had periods of free times or when I just wanted to sit in a cafe.

Have fun! And yes to a small drink before or on the flight.

You might be scared now but when you get back it’ll be the best feeling in the world. You’ll feel like you can conquer the world.

I’m not the biggest fan of flying either - deep breaths, ‘I can do this’ in your head, have music/book/magazine for distraction.

You got this! Have a lovely time x

VixenSixen · 17/04/2019 08:59

What a life-changing moment this is going to be for you...... Anything that pushes you outside your comfort zone also increases your confidence tenfold........

Hope you have a fantastic time and enjoy yourself! Flowers

You'll have a great time.
Have a couple of drinks and chill on the plane.
Enjoy it!

Handbag101 · 17/04/2019 11:41

Go for it OP. I went alone for the first time last year and loved it. I actually started a thread on it and updated it a couple of times a day as people were so supportive. I had a fantastic time and would definitely do it again.

TheOriginalNutty · 17/04/2019 16:01

Oh please update OP. I am considering doing this at some point, so i'd love to know how it's going.

Handbag101, do you have a link to your thread please.

Handbag101 · 17/04/2019 16:19

Hey Nutty I wouldn't have a clue how to link but I'm sure if you search on my name, you would find it....

My mum goes on these holidays and always has a great time. Be yourself and ha ve fun!

Lunde · 17/04/2019 18:21

I went on a holiday alone a year after a break-up. I chose a place that I had always wanted to go but my ex refused. It was a bit daunting but a real adventure.

I actually met current DP while there and we have been married over 25 years

starflake · 17/04/2019 18:40

My best experience ever was a break away like this. 4 nights with a group I never met before in New York. Hands down the best time of my life, I actually cried coming home on the plane as I wanted it to be longer. I was terrified going & wanted to back out also OP

Rollindowntheroad · 17/04/2019 18:44

Oh this is inspiring me to do another one! Have fun OP.

TheOriginalNutty · 18/04/2019 11:34

Thanks handbag, I’ll have a look x
