Me and my husband have been separated since January , he had a car on finance for me 2 years ago as a Present, he still has 6 months left on the payment, he now wants the car back although in my name, finance is his, do I have a right to the car ?

Strictly speaking, the car belongs to the finance company until it's paid off. If the payments aren't made, they could repossess it.

You are the registered keeper but my understanding is that this does not mean you are the owner. Is there anything in writing saying it was a gift? Presumably it's a marital asset anyway so it's both of yours.

Is it on lease hire or a loan? If it's a loan then you're good as long as you take over the payments. If it's lease hire then you're fucked sadly.

Thanks all spoke to the company it's all in his name , so he is entitled to the car , but I have been able to take it out of my address so I'm happy now thanks all for advice
