Serious question

Why do so many women comply with what their partners want?
Why do they sell houses, give up good jobs, move to the other end of the country.....then all too often, end up being controlled, unable to support themselves, find their mental health deteriorating because of the awful circumstances they find themselves in.
Why are so many women so very trusting?
Is it nature? Is it nurture?
Trying to understand...

Societal expectations?

Abusive or coercive control?

Could be any number of reasons really.

I don't know, I've done all of the above. It could be conditioning, wanting to please the person we love, too trusting. The list goes on.
I haven't got any truck with all that now I'm older. I just don't think women are very good at putting themselves first.

Because so many men manipulate them.

Because of society. Males and females are told very different stories from the minute they’re born to what’s important in life and who they need to be. Men are taught to value independence, freedom, sexual prowess, dominance & strength as important qualities within themselves. For them to be successful in life depends on career, earnings, number of sexual encounters. Women are taught that all of these qualities are bad for women, that their measure of success is in a successful relationship, a successful family life, that submissiveness, fragility, looking feminine & being a good full time care giver are important qualities.

I don't know. And whats even worse, they don't even insist on marriage - they just give give give give give.
