What is love?

Inspired by another thread how do I know if someone is in love with me unless they say the words? What clues would you look for?

Baby don’t hurt me... Grin

Sorry OP, couldn’t resist.

I reckon you just know

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 06/04/2019 19:20

@ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 Grin exactly what went through my head when I read the title!

Iamblossom · 06/04/2019 19:20

Laughing together

Thinking similarly

Wanting the same things out of life

Doing something for the other person with no expectation they will do something for you

Putting your needs before there own

Knowing when to apologise and being brave enough to

It's a work in progress, respect, kindness and understanding. The rest is lust. Well that's my view on it.

Chocolateisfab · 06/04/2019 21:05

Warming up your side of the bed!!
Letting you use the last t bag!!
Defrosting your car windscreen!!
Buying your fav mag and running you a bath - with bubbles and candles!

ladamanera · 06/04/2019 21:40

Worrying about how you feel regardless if they get what they want. Watching and remembering things about you. Seeing their life as one to make you as well as themselves happy. Love grows, ita a process, dont expect all elements to be there at the beginning but what you must not compromise on, is respect. For the history you have, the way you express yourself (when you are vulnerable), and the things you need. Your responsibikity ia to communicate those things. Love is not people having perfect guessing instincts but it is them trying to do whats right for you, from a place of respect and admiration. Love is not controlling you, or constantly apologising, or changing you. Thats different. Thats a projection of themselves. We all project a bit with strangers but respect isnt something someone can neglect. Good luck.

Another vote for Baby Don't Hurt Me Grin

inloveagain12 · 06/04/2019 23:05

This clearly shows an age divide because when I posted it it was Howard Jones that popped into my head!

And now I can't get "it's a hard knock life" out of my head!'

However I'm still very interested to understand how you know someone loves you that you don't yet live with if they're not going to say it??

OP posts:
Azuresea · 06/04/2019 23:06

They need to tell you! You should just know and not have to guess.

BringMeAGinandTonic · 07/04/2019 04:17

@ItsAHardKn0ckLife1

You beat me to it! LOL

BringMeAGinandTonic · 07/04/2019 04:25

Love is mutual respect, compassion and knowing the other/understanding the other.
It's also feeling good when with them and thinking of them.
It's helping each other, being there for each other and not hurting the other.
It's compromising, not competing.
Showing appreciation.

GlossyTaco · 07/04/2019 05:18

Thanks op , I'm up feeding the baby and have had the cbeebies shapes song stuck in my head. It was replaced with haddaway the moment I saw the thread title.

Sculpin · 07/04/2019 05:31

How long have you been together, OP? If it’s longer than six months, it would bother me if he hasn’t said it.

Otherwise I would agree with others - respect, kindness, doing little things for you, phoning you for no particular reason.

inloveagain12 · 07/04/2019 11:10

Thanks everyone. He does lots of these things but I'm not sure if he's just a nice person!

I think true love goes a lot like the words in the picture. Romantic love, words can mean a great deal but at the end of the day it's actions that count. OP, if it doesn't feel right. then it's not. You can still love someone but remove yourself if it's causing you harm. Best wishes

What is love?
Vitalogy · 07/04/2019 13:30

Do you love him OP?

BlackPrism · 07/04/2019 18:03

Love is bringing me an iced coffee in bed on a morning even when you're running late.

But tbh I think you know from the way they look at you.... they have that look in their eyes, like pride but softer
