How could a false eyelash get into my house?

QueenBeeNotMe · 29/03/2019 11:49

This morning I found a false eyelash in a bathroom towel. I have never worn them! I have lived in this house for 20 years. It is a complete rip at the moment because we are decorating, seriously boxes everywhere, paint, ladders, furniture piled up in the bedrooms and hall.. no one has visited for ages because of this!

How did it get I tomy House? On a shoe?

Complete tip, not rip
Into my house, not I tomy House

Do you have a partner or children? Could they have brought it in somehow on their clothes?

Nowordsleft · 29/03/2019 11:52

Who else lives in your house?
What are you suspecting/worried about?

hellsbellsmelons · 29/03/2019 11:53

Could be anything really.
A shoe
Fell into a bag
Fell out of one of the boxes
Kids messing about with them

YogaWannabe · 29/03/2019 11:53

Could one of the workmen bright someone in? As a youngster I used to go out with a painter and decorator and we would sometimes stay in properties he was doing up (they never had current inhabitants mind!)

QueenBeeNotMe · 29/03/2019 11:54

DP and 4 year old.

It was in my bathroom though, not really used by anyone else.

Worried someone has been in my bathroom! But DP wouldn’t have invited anyone with the place being a tip. He is very conscious of mess and visitors.

The little fuckers get everywhere cos of the sticky edge

I don’t think you need to assume your husband is having an affair. If I was shagging a guy and I was wearing false eyelashes I’d feel pretty ugly with one dropping off and carrying on with one big lash and one stumpy one covered in glue

ApolloandDaphne · 29/03/2019 12:07

Is it possible your 4yo picked it up thinking it was a little multi legged creature and wrapped it in your towel to keep it safe?

Jessgalinda · 29/03/2019 12:25

I found a random in in my hair a few weeks ago.

Could be all sorts of reasons.

Theres been a very similar thread to this a few years ago.

Jessgalinda · 29/03/2019 12:26

Sorry posted too soon.

That thread had loads of stories about where people had lost and found them

Snowflakes1122 · 29/03/2019 12:29

Unless you have other suspicions, I wouldn’t get too concerned.

Those things are sticky buggers. It could of been on a chair you sat on, stuck then transferred to the towel after washing.

I once walked around town with one of my sisters on me! Grin

I’m imagining your sister stuck to your back 😂

Snowflakes1122 · 29/03/2019 16:56

Dowser Grin Grin

Just to clarify, it was definitely just eye false eyelash stuck to me!

MitziK · 29/03/2019 18:12

Came off somebody at work or on the way home.

I've deposited them on towels before now - I spend a lot of time around teenage girls at work, many of whom can't seem to manage leaving the house without a set.

DP sometimes has a single speck of glitter on him or it turns up on the bathroom floor. The last time glitter entered this house was about five years ago.

On the eyelid of a woman is one method.

QueenBeeNotMe · 29/03/2019 19:59

Well I suppose I’ll never know.

I’m going to search for that thread from years ago now 😊

I have to say it would concern me that it was on a towel. My first thought would be that a woman wiped her face with the towel and it came off.
So sorry but if it were me I would think that either a woman had been in my house and used that towel or my husband had been wearing them.
I have never in my life had come across random eyelashes anywhere so that is what i would think.

PamDooveOrangeJoof · 30/03/2019 22:02

By th way my husband doesn’t have form for wearing false eyelashes but from all I have read on here seems you never can tell!

I wear them sometimes and they do get everywhere. Because they are so light but so sticky they will get stuck to things without anyone noticing and get carried around etc...
It could have come from absolutely anywhere... someone needn't have been in your house wearing them for it to get on your towel.

C0untDucku1a · 30/03/2019 22:09

Very weird.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 30/03/2019 22:31

Are you sure it's not a bristle from a paint-brush if you're decorating?

BringMeAGinandTonic · 30/03/2019 23:06

Ilikeyourhairyhands has a really good point. Match the eyelash to some paintbrushes hair, see if any match.

BringMeAGinandTonic · 30/03/2019 23:07

*to some paintbrush hair

I still was thinking of that name and what kind of hairy hands we're talking here lol. Lost focus.

TokenGinger · 30/03/2019 23:42

My DP is black and has tight curly Afro hair. I went away for a week abroad without him and on day 5 or 6 when washing my hair, which I'd done several times that week, I found one of his hairs within my hair. I was in another country! I am not sure if it had a super grip and managed to stay in my hair for so long or if it transferred from clothes he'd ironed for me beforehand etc. It's amazing how things end up in places!
