“I want to take it slow”

Met a lovely guy through a friend.
We’ve been dating for 6 weeks, so far have seen each other once or twice a week.
Had some lovely dates, dinner and cinema etc.
About 4 weeks in, over dinner, he told me he really liked me, thought we were really compatible and wasn’t dating anyone else but wanted to take it slow.
We’ve had sex twice since and he’s still keen to meet up but it doesn’t seem to be progressing any further
I know 6 weeks is extremely early days and we’re still getting to know each other but I’m worried this is code for “I like hanging out with you and having sex with you but don’t want a relationship”
Is this generally what taking it slow means?

How old are you 2?

Justmuddlingalong · 19/03/2019 21:40

I think it means. "Whoa, it's been 6 weeks!"

SleepingStandingUp · 19/03/2019 21:41

Well I would have said it means not having sex but...

I'd assume he just wants to keep it as it is. No meeting families or kids, no double dating with Barbara and Ken from next door. No plans for holidays next year.

NameChangeNugget · 19/03/2019 21:48

What’s the rush??

He sounds sensible, what exactly are you expecting it to progress too? It’s been 6 weeks, you barely know him. What are you comparing your expectations too?

toddman 29 and 33
I’m just used to feeling like it might be going somewhere by now
Am I being too keen? 😳

You can be keen on someone. But you seem overly keen. He's obviously picked up on that , but you seem oblivious. Slow down and just enjoy it. See where it goes.

If you were reading your post but posted by another subscriber. What would you think? There's your answer.

Suspiciousmind007 · 19/03/2019 22:00

Did he say that in response to a 'where is this going?' type question?

SleepingStandingUp · 19/03/2019 22:01

What did you say before he said it? Is your biological clock ticking?

If you're getting to know each other, making dates in advance and like him then it's going somewhere

MyFavouriteDress1 · 19/03/2019 22:02

He doesn’t want to move in or start a family yet. Sounds like he still wants you though.

originalsource · 19/03/2019 22:02

Oh, I feel a bit embarrassed now!
No suspiciousmind I didn’t ask at all, he brought it up over dinner!

Sleeping I think it’s the biological clock... maybe.... 😳

He's keeping his options open.
