Ladies of MumsNet - Please help! The Coil?

My girlfriend has told me she wants to have the coil inserted going forward instead of taking the pill? What are you thoughts? Is it still equally as safe? Should I have any concerns? We're both in our mid twenties. Hmm

No you shouldn’t have any concerns, it’s her body, let her take control of it how she likes.

Why the hell would you ask Mumsnet? Just read the NHS page on it and support her preferences.

Concerns about what?

BayandBlonde · 19/03/2019 20:09

What are you worried out, getting tangled up in it or something!! Confused

The coil is one of the most efficient forms of contraception.... 99.9%.

You have it inserted and that's it until the time comes when you no longer want it.

In some ways probably better than the pill as you don't have to remember to take it.

Not quite. They have a five year lifespan.

Depends on which type you have. Mines 10 years. 😊
