What to make of this?

Hello All,

So... our in-laws are visiting and my husband comes and tells me this:
"just wanted to tell you something... my mum is upset that you talk to dad more than to her. Can you please talk to her more?"

Not sure what to make of this?! Sounded a bit like an allegation.

A bit of background: we are Indian, my m-i-l is usually monosyllabic and f-i-l is more chatty, so in a conversation the dialogue could have been more between him and me although I didn't do it on purpose. Now I'm quite nervous being around them as I'm not sure exactly what to do/ what not to do Confused... and my husband telling me this

Walk over, sit down in front of her and say "so what would you like to talk about" and smile, then just wait. If she says nothing then she can't accuse you of not trying! Honestly it sounds like she's looking for an issue. Plus conversation is a two way thing. Is DH not making conversation? You're not the only person there.....
