Explain Instagram messages to me please! DH phone....

Just saw on DH phone that he had a message via Instagram from a girl..... not someone he is in regular contact with I assume, because it was one of those "so and so wants to send you a message". you can still read the message and then click accept or decline. The message was just a hello but with a heart. Does anyone know what would he have been doing to make her click on his profile? I.e. would she be able to see if he's looking at porn type stuff or would he have been commenting on stuff? Thanks for any advice, feeling uncomfortable about it.

The msg was "hello, how are you? And the heart emoji.

He wouldn't necessarily be doing anything, it could be a spam account or a random getting in touch. Do they follow each other on Instagram? If not, then seems more likely to be spam. If they do, its reasonable to want to know more.

bunintheoven88 · 25/01/2019 23:11

Could be a bot, I wouldn't worry if he hasn't replied, is it a recently sent message?

JuniperBeer · 25/01/2019 23:12

I get loads of random messages. They’re spam. Done by bots. You should be able to see what kind of profile it is by looking at it. I wouldn’t think too much into it unless you’ve got anything else to worry about.

nobodyputsbabyinthecornor · 25/01/2019 23:12

I get these random messages on Instagram from strangers all the time . I wouldn't be concerned all at if I was you . Your husband has no control over who messages him

HerRoyalNotness · 25/01/2019 23:13

O get spammy messages from randoms in there, my account is private but they still come through. Seems to be from ‘women’ wanting me to “look” at them. I just delete.

I wouldn’t read anything into it, unless you have other concerns

Dirtybadger · 25/01/2019 23:14

Probably a bot

whatisheupto · 25/01/2019 23:15

Oh ok thanks everyone! It just popped up tonight hence me seeing it... so no he hasn't replied (yet?!). Its just i never get these messages.... well not ones with hearts.

I've got five of these right now. Just women saying hi, with heart or peach emojis. One has her arse out in her profile picture.

I don't watch porn on Instagram (there isn't much porn on instagram...) it's just one of those things. Your DH probably hasn't done anything.

purpleboy · 25/01/2019 23:16

If you have to press accept then it means they are not friends. It's probably a spam account. No joke I've had about 10 females requesting to follow me, non of whom I know and all of which have naked pics of their profile! Don't think there is anything to worry about
Could you just ask him about it? Would he not question why you were on his account in the first place?

twirlbabytwirl · 25/01/2019 23:16

I've had a few messages off random people. I just press decline. I wouldn't look into it to much.

glitterypink · 25/01/2019 23:17

I've had those before from people I don't know, so I wouldn't worry.

CorianderDestroysFamilies · 25/01/2019 23:18

Oh god I get a fair few of these, normally after I’ve used a popular hashtag. I wouldn’t worry about it, the emoji makes it look even more like a bot too.

mogloveseggs · 25/01/2019 23:18

I have the arse out one too!
Or maybe there are more than one with arses out
It's just spam

Christmasfairy07 · 25/01/2019 23:21

What’s a bot?

whatisheupto · 25/01/2019 23:25

Oh thanks all... feel much better. I have been lucky to escape the bots myself then! There's been a fair bit of porn usage going on which I'm not that happy about so I was worried it had gone to the next level.

He may have done nothing. My dh gets requests from what appear to be escorts and random messages like the one your dh got.

dinkydolphin · 25/01/2019 23:30

This happens me all the time! It's spam accounts that message thousands of random people at the same time. They'll go through the alphabet and target a letter a day over a month period. It's all computer generated. That account will be deactivated and another set in its place within an hour.

Absolutely nothing to worry about!!!

I get loads of spam messages like that .

Is it a real profile for sure

dontgobaconmyheart · 26/01/2019 14:37

I get these quite a bit too OP, they're pretty much always from spam accounts, I actually have no idea what algorithm they use to pick you out, but would love to know!

I'm not saying it's right or that I would but if you want to see what he is liking on instagram, you can actually view that in the Instagram settings under 'posts you've liked'- it keeps a history.
