Arguing and stress

First time posting. My partner (28) and I (25) have been together nearly 4 years but have never lived together as yet but hope to this year. Due to circumstances we now live 7hrs apart and have done for about 9 months of this year due to my work.

I am now currently looking for a contract (school teacher) for the 2019 school year and am quite stressed. Do people argue more with their DP when they are stressed? Mostly about trivial things. Also a lot of people are getting engaged etc and he keeps saying I need to be patience even though we have a date in 2020 in mind. It's frustrating for me that he's so chill about it.
