Exciting family traditions to start in new year

Happy New Year!

I am looking for simple but meaningful new traditions to start in my family of four (teen DD and 8yo DS).
The task is to straighten the family ties. At times, we can get a bit too expressive which ruins our already rare family time. I am tired of fighting, shouting, arguing ect. I want peace, love and quiet in my house. So, looking for an advice on something new and exciting that might help us enjoy each other more.

I always take my DD for a walk on the 1st of January. It’s always the beach. We have chips and watch the swimmers 😂. Just me and her. We talk. It’s good.

We have a pizza and a movie night once a week.
We go on holiday just the two of us for a week every year.

Is that what you mean?

8FencingWire - will try weekly movie night. I think it will be great! What is your family top five pick?

OhioOhioOhio - Jigsaw isn't my thing (not patient enough...) but maybe a family game might work instead.

I am thinking of something long term to keep the focus of the family in the right direction. Due to work commitments, we didn't really had a chance to be a family, have meals together or spend quality family time. When my DH is home then I would be at work and vs. So when we get together it is a matter of fighting, arguing about who said/did what and why and so on.. I need to start from the very beginning, I'm afraid..
