Ex partner rearing his ugly head

Split with my ex 5 years ago. Very nasty split, he was vile and met someone new about 4 weeks later. He moved in with her and Her son shortly afte.

I spent 16 horrendous months selling the house which was so stressful. He got married 18 months ago and I've been with my current partner for 4 years now. Mostly happy and certainly happier than I was with him.

Last night I noticed that he'd 'waved' at me on Facebook messenger and had also unblocked me on Facebook. I unblocked him and his family a couple of years ago when I was updating my privacy settings. Plus I didn't really care either way and I wanted to contact one of his daughters.

I haven't responded to the wave, nor do I intend to. The last two times he contacted me in 2014 and 2015 he had briefly split up with his girlfriend, so the arse was obviously testing the waters with me .

Can't deny I'm curious, I'm only human after all. But not going down that road again.

Just ignore OP. It can be a bit of a shock and quite strange when an ex gets in touch but from experience it's never worth pursuing.

Hope you had a lovely Christmas.

IME they're either looking for validation "I treated you well, right? Let's just ignore all the times I sulked you into sex" or a straight out booty call.

BlueJava · 28/12/2018 11:53

Block and ignore and don't get involved! Don't validate him - he was vile to you and you are worth so much more!

It's made me double check what settings my Facebook is on so that he can't see what's going on in my life.

His profile is covered in wedding photos from 18 months ago which seemed to have been updated this week. He's either feeling happy and confident and showing off his wonderful life or feeling sorry for himself.

I am worth so much more. He's a total dick and looks an idiot in his shorts and waistcoat at his wedding Grin

My ex seems to do a self-validation/bragging/rubbing my nose in it exercise every so often. Look how great I'm doing without you! He's looking for an upset reaction from me and seems to work quite hard to get it.

The first few times he did it were painful but I'm immune to it now. The occasions always seem to be when he's feeling a bit off balance and it seems to occur when he's on the verge of messing up.

The last time he contacted me was in New Year too. It's as though he has time on his hands so messages me. I did chat to him that time as the house sale was going through & we were still in semi contact.

His gf - (now wife )had moved out and he wished me happy new year. Once he realised I was dating someone new and wasn't interested he backed off.

He reverted to being a dick 3 months later demanding money from the house sale - of which he was due £0.

I've found out he's separated from his wife after 16 months of marriage so he was seeing if I'd bite with his wave.

I haven't nor ever will.

What a twat!
