One of my male friends of many years sent me this and I'm struggling to work out what he means by it. He later backtracked and said he also sent his step brother a similar message, thoughts please?.

"Oy you're an amazing person. Just be yourself in life. You are perfect in every way. Just you are you're amazing. Just well done in just being you. You are everything that I consider perfect. Well done"

I read it as you are an alright person, he was sending out drunken love.

If he's quite jokey I would interpret second one as he was trying to chat you up but wants to be able to say he was joking if you are not interested.

If he's a serious guy would interpret that as he likes you but doesn't want a relationship with you now for whatever reason.

He's a jokey guy. It could be me overthinking but it could also be something else.

I don't even see that it is personally to you - it's like a message from an online dating man who sends a copy/paste message to everyone. I would just assume there was alcohol involved and not give it a second thought. I definitely wouldn't wonder if he liked me or not.

It sounds to me, OP, as if you'd like it to be a romantic message and you're wanting posters to confirm that for you. Nobody here can really do that as they don't know your relationship with this man and don't know him.

Ask him, if you really want to know the answer. I get that's it's awkward but better that than you pondering/eating your heart out over what is a really ambiguous ramble.

Also, why would you send the same message to two people? It kind of takes away from anything personal about either person IMO...
