Lovely love letters - emails and messages.

I had the most lovely love letter/message just recently. It reduced me to a blubbering wreck and it made me wonder if people still write love messages nowadays.

My dp writes really beautiful Christmas and birthday love letters inside the cards he gives me. They definitely make me a bit teary. I think they are lovely!

I love this oldschool romance. I just love it. I’m not into taking a picture of a bunch of flowers someone bought me just to show Facebook.

I’m all about the secret letters, being eachothers person. Finding a shitty bar with a big fire and just watching the world go by, knowing I’ll never be this complete with anyone else.

My dh and I lived on opposite sides of the world when we were dating (been living in the same place and married for 7+ years now) and we wrote each other every week (plus emails too, etc). So we have boxes of cards and letters to each other from those years. It’s really lovely now looking back to have that time in our lives captured in letters.

That's so sweet. DP also writes beautiful things in cards for me (I do the same for him) and I've kept all of them. It's so nice to have them to look back on.

I haven't had a love letter since I was in my 20s, now I'm much older and thought love letter days were well behind me - I'm divorced
and there's been no one since.

Then this lovely man from Old messaged me last night with a real tear jerker about his unrequited love for me and what he would give just to hold me and kiss me. I was a sobbing wreck - but felt blessed.

Sorry, OP! Didn't mean to be rude. Just I've had some weird messages/cards in the past from people who don't even know me and I find it really odd. Makes me feel really awkward in case I come across them in the street.

I thought this was lovely. Prince Albert to Queen Victoria. Part of the letter:

Dearest deeply loved Victoria, I need not tell you that since we left, all my thoughts have been with you at Windsor, and that your image fills my whole soul. Even in my dreams I never imagined that I should find so much love on earth. How that moment shines for me still when I was close to you, with your hand in mine. Those days flew by so quickly, but our separation will fly equally so.

It's ok, it's not weird, there's a really lovely romantic back story. I've known his quite a while online and by phone. But the being together part didn't go to plan - like he said, 'he fucked up.'

That one from Prince Albert is lovely - queen Victoria was a very lucky woman.

my lovely DP writes me gushing love messages every day, pretty much along the lines of Prince Albert. He is an incurable romantic.

Yes Love Letters are very special indeed ..... I’ve just read over a dozen heartfelt letters written by my husband ..... TO ANOTHER WOMAN ! It’s hard for a wife to read how he has fallen so deeply and never felt this way about anyone - and if she gives him the chance he will love her and cherish her forever !! I am distraught !

I have suspected for a while but have been waiting for weeks for him to leave his iPad unlocked (this never happens now ) and sure enough there they all are ! There was an awful lot more besides but I was time restricted ...... the poetry is awesome (never wrote poetry like that for me !) but the hardest bit to read was how he had been to her cottage and had baths together and went for long walks with his “soul mate” all this was when he told me he was at work down South but actually they were in the North of England where she lives ! ....... Gutted !!

Well I guess it’s legal advice and maybe some counselling ? I just can’t get the image of him/her curled up in front of the log fire while he massages her feet and gets lost in the smouldering brown eyes !! In some ways I wish I hadn’t read them now but at least I now know where I stand ...... I cannot compete with this OW (nor do I want to !) I just cannot believe he is so completely smitten - he is not a man that shows a lot of affection so obviously she has awakened something in him ? Christmas is not going to be much fun this year !!

He doesn’t know I know ...... fortunately he actually IS working away just now so I can cry, shout, scream etc in peace and quiet. Fortunately no children to break this to ! Recently moved to a new area so don’t know a lot of people but did start a new job and this has been a Godsend! OW does know he is married but think he is spinning her the old line of “my wife doesn’t understand me” and “we’ve fallen out of love” etc etc so don’t blame her entirely. They are even making holiday arrangements to go to Thailand together !! He wants to swim naked in the sea with her ! Honestly, you couldn’t make it up ...... I’m surprised at how calm I feel but devastated at the same time .... think I’m still in shock.

That’s what I was going to say.. you sound so bloody calm! I think that’s what upsets me most, you sound like such a lovely person and don’t deserve this.

Is there any family you could phone or a long distance friend? What an absolute shock.

Please do take this time to figure out a plan, scream and shout, cry. Get something indulgent to eat and have a lovely bath. Get cosy on the sofa and watch something you can fall into.

It’s a terrible time of year for this all to be happening. Any time would be terrible.

I just want you to know that you aren’t alone and if you want to chat I’ll always be around!

Thank goodness I’ve found this site ..... Thankyou for all your support and encouragement . He is back mid week and I’m dreading it ! If I can I’ll keep you posted.
