Has anyone had dental implants abroad?

I can't afford it here in UK but I am desperate. Anyone?

Hit and miss. I've seen patients that have had them abroad, came here and they have failed and caused real implications to their dentition, But have also seen a few who have really good healthy implants.
My advise would be to research absolutely everything, every detail.
There is also a lot of appointments that come with implant treatment so you would need to consider the cost of travel back and forth another country for a few months. I strongly believe you pay for quality.

Thank you. What would you advise? Presumably you're a dentist. I can't cope with losing more teeth. So many are wobbly due to a brace. There's no way on this earth I can have gaps wailing

I know your op is about implants but if you're considering crowns abroad my advice is don't. Lots of celebs go to these dental centres in Turkey but any dentist worth their salt wouldn't file down healthy teeth to replace them with crowns-especially as crowns can and do often go wrong. Do your researcg and get opinions from multiple dentists as to what treatment they'd recommend.

Don't do it, i got implants here, yes double the price but what if you need further treatment, correction, you going to keep flying to Turkey, save up or do it on a payment plan.

Wear a denture until you have enough saved up.

I have two implatns done in Poland, but I done it at family dentist so not much of a risk there. One cost about £1500- £1700 not including flights and you need quite a lot of flights (about 5 years ago).

I needed 4 visits (check-up and removal of teeth, checkup, taking form for new teeth, inserting of screws in jaw, checkup screwing the teeth in, cheekup, fixes made to the implants as the jaw aligned).

Also you would need to calculate not only flights but hotels, taking time off work to do it, etc etc. I don't know if at the end of the day it will not come to the same amount as doing them in uk?

I was organising weding at the same time as going to dentist, so it was two birds one stone situation for me.

Also I only had two done, can you check with a dentist if they can do something to strenghten your teeth? Is there any other solution? I can assure you that puttin implants in is not enjoyable experience.

Yes, had work in Czech and Budapest. Both times great results. Took our insurance too, so if anything went wrong treatment and flights etc were covered.
UK dentists aren’t any better trained than many overseas

You’ll find there are UK based dentists doing some pretty awful cosmetic work too, and they can just up-sticks and go and practice in another country if they get sued. Not all the cowboys are based overseas.

Not everywhere in the UK is expensive. I did massive research before having mine about 5 years ago, including abroad. Its best to pick a dentist who only specializes in implants. Mine were very reasonable and I know of 3 other people, including my sister, who went there. Was near Manchester but think they are a small chain in the uk. Dental Care plus. My dentist was really good and very happy.

Not a dentist but am a dental nurse, true what other have said and all have a fair point. You can get awful work done in the UK too. Definitely worth saving to have the work done though. Most places should offer finance or a payment plan. I work at a specialist centre for implants and have seen my fair share!
