Double Life

I've just been watching a programme on the tv about men and women who live double lives. As someone who's been cheated on previously, I was wondering what you think the difference is between an affair and a double life.

I guess the difference is that it’s not a primary relationship plus ‘a bit on the side’. It’s a complete second relationship, possibly including kids, often including family and friends being aware of it.

Beeebop · 25/11/2018 11:17

@TheStoic that's kind of my understanding, two relationships running on separate tracks. It was quite astonishing the lengths people went to maintain both.

It takes a certain kind of person, that’s for sure.

I’ve never heard of a woman living a ‘double life’, to be honest.

Presumably because why would she want the shit-work of two families? #cynical

@TheStoic there was only on but she didn't have children to either man but some great holidays!

2 x holidays I could definitely get on board with.

XH's childhood babysitter married a high earning American corporate executive. They had a fantastic life, lived all over the world, lovely homes etc. Eventually (and I can't remember how) it came out thatfor most of their long married life he had also been "married" to someone else and had a family with her too.
He'd pulled it off because the nature of his job meant that long absences weren't suspicious, he was a high earner so standards were maintained. It was shocking and morbidly fascinating when all was revealed. Utterly bizarre. His whole life was a lie, and by default so werethe lives of both families.

Beeebop · 25/11/2018 12:00

@FlamingJuno it was fascinating but the lies caught up with them all eventually. I just don't know how they have the balls to do it

Is the programme called double lives ? Would love to watch it

Beeebop · 25/11/2018 13:04

I'll send you the link once I get back in @Stressandmess

Thank you! @beeebop

SixButterflies · 25/11/2018 13:29

Is there a reason you can't post the name of the programme on the thread? Does it have to be privately messaged to people?

Unicornandbows · 25/11/2018 13:31

I'd like to know too

Fleabag123 · 25/11/2018 13:35

Sounds fascinating. Did anyone watch the Sky series Bliss (Stephen Mangan/Heather Graham) this year. It was about this exactly, a bit clunky and unrealistic in parts but I found it watcheable.

OP - Please post the name of the programme or the link here.

Netflix had a one first I watched about finding out the truth and then I was watching cheaters on YouTube (was watching catfish first and then it did a suggestion) and the video started about double life cheaters ... it's not on my phone as through the tv so I can't find the actual link. The first video on YouTube had a picture of a man walking in a park but they all just play one after the other. Once I'm back from work (not at home away for a week) I'll see if I can search through the videos on the tv that we've watched

You can't get more of a double life than this. Or maybe you can.

Hmm I think I need to watch this 🤔 although it may just set me off again!
