Relate Couples Counselling

Anyone able to give me an idea of what to expect from first session, which is essentially a consultation?

I am personally at the point of make or break with my marriage. I carry quite a bit of anger towards my husband and could probably spend the session tearing shreds off him. Obviously I’m not going to do this and I want it to be useful and meaningful.

Should I prepare in any way?

I advise attending your first session with an idea of what your goals are from therapy, what you’d like to work towards and be different by the end. Suggest your husband does the same, and then share your thoughts with each other during the session. It’s a good starting point.

Other than that don’t worry. The counsellor will guide you to share the info they need to start off with.
