I am grinding through a divorce from my abusive (shortly to be ex) husband. We're separated but the children (15 and 11) refuse to stay with him because of his volcanic and frightening temper. I note that that solicitors are in the fee collection business and I have just received yet another enormous invoice for I know not what and I have asked for a detailed breakdown - I am getting fed up with being charged £100 for an email of 100 words. I need advice on the financial settlement only and want to negotiate a fixed price with a new solicitor in Hampshire. The only thing that's tricky is that my ex is a hospital consultant and the value of his pension is considerable so I need somebody who understands this area.
