Love vs fancying

DP just told me that he loves me, but that he fancies me more. What does that even mean?

Fancy and caring for that person is entirely different saying the words I love you it's just like saying I care about you

Personally I consider fancying to be shallow sexual attraction or a crush, where as love is deeper, eg I love my husband but I fancy vin diesel
