What Do I do now?

I am new here and I hope that you can help me.

Long story short, I have been working in a client's house for almost a year now - jobs vary and I feel that they have lost all respect for me and expect me to be there including some evenings at weekend.

I work alternate days and I was asked to go there yesterday by one of the adult children (I do not think that I was going to be paid anyway, he does not live there, he was not able to keep up his promise so asked me to do it) I had an emergency and had to travel to the other side of town. I informed him on Sunday morning that I was not able to do the favour which involved approximately 4 - 5 hours.

I was meant to work today, but out of the blue, the other lady was asked to cover my shift. I had made it clear that I would be coming to work today. I was upset and texted back that I was going to stay where I was for a while. He rang me several times but did not pick up his calls. He later sent a text to say xx was upset and want to see me on Wednesday.

The person who hired me has come back and tried to call me, but I have decided not to answer his calls as well - as I know that I was not happy with the way he sometimes calls me in the morning and tells me to get their early, it's like I have no life.

I don't really want to go back. What do you think? The job was part-time. I would rather invest the time in running my business.

@MissConduct, Thank you!

I have been feeling the same and this gave me the motivation to start working harder at my business. I made a lots of progress today.

People tends to take advantage to the one who puts in more effort.
