New baby and split from the father. When is it time to call CSA?

Can anyone give me their experiences of this? I feel awful about doing it but I think he thinks that babies cost nothing! Is it the wrong way to go about things? Is the amount of money they're made to pay fair?

Now is a good time. Payments are not just to contribute to the cost of nappies, clothes, etc, but also to contribute to the costs of housing, heating, etc for the child.

He pays up or you are skint.
You have the baby. He doesn't.
You need to toughen up woman!!
Ring them tomorrow!

There is an online calculator if you know how many hours he works and how much he earns

Lookatyourwatchnow · 16/10/2018 21:18

Do it first thing tomorrow. Don't feel bad, they take a pittance from the non-resident parent, and it takes forever for them to actually do anything anyway Hmm

He clearly has very little respect for you or his child, otherwise he'd be voluntarily paying something. Get the ball rolling now as the new system takes a lot longer to get established. You have nothing to feel guilty about and the expenses will only get higher.

Unless he’s paying regularly and a fair amount I’d be calling them within a couple of weeks

AnneLovesGilbert · 16/10/2018 21:42

He should be giving you money without discussion and he’s not so get onto them first thing in the morning.

Does he think the magical nappy fairies leave supplies on your doorstep? Or the milk fairies either as formula or the food you need to eat to feed your baby?

If it is an issue go to cms . It is easier to take the issue out of his hands and focus on the care
