Most ridiculous relationship issues ever...

Snogging my DH gives me terrible acne where his nose touches my face (WHY??!).

I've struggled with acne all my adult life and it gets me down, so I either avoid kissing him or have to do it really "neatly" so only our mouths touch.

He feels hurt that I care more about acne than restriction-free snogging.

I can't believe I'm nearly 40 and have written a post containing the word "snogging" repeatedly.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like he has oily skin maybe?

AnotherEffingOrangeRevel · 02/10/2018 16:03

Yes, probably, Sponge. I don't think he'd like it if I asked him to wash his face before kissing me though Blush

Maybe not, but if he thought it might have benefits for him... :)

Question - do you both use the same facewash? Moisturiser or other products? Handwash? I'm wondering if its product residue that you're reacting to rather than oil on his face - I touch my nose a lot during the day when I'm thinking about things or tired, I could imagine harsh work soap ending up on his hands -> his nose -> your hypersensitive skin.

Interesting thought, @stormtreader, thank you.
And yes that is true, @SpongBobJudgeyPants.

It is a ridiculous problem. But surprisingly impactful.

I realise any sort of 'facial preparation' seems like it takes away the spontaneity of 'sexy times', but isn't it similar to making sure you are clean/ contraceptive precautions etc? I seem to spend a lot of time and money on my skin, so this would be an issue for me too.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/10/2018 10:13

Though I think Storm's suggestion that it is some kind of allergy/sensitivity is probably the way to broach it, as it's making it a general problem and not a personal issue 'caused' by him iuswim.

Sounds like you have found the perfect contraception for the over 40's!!

He feels hurt that I care more about acne than restriction-free snogging.

Surely if he cared about you he would try and find out what causes you to break-out. He could try exfoliating, a weekly mud mask, wash his face with a facewash for greasy skin?
