Next week I am going for a drink with a lady who I have been messaging for the past 3/4 weeks. We appear to have alot in common and get on well.

I am very nervous this is my first date since I have divorced and have not dated since 2000.

Would buying a rose be to much for 1st date?

Yes. It really would be too much.
Buy the drinks, pay for dinnrif she lets you but don't force it.
Be yourself. Stay calm. Don't invest too much emotionally and don't ask for commitment. Always be aware of her personal space and comfort zone.
