Relationships after 42?

Namechanged for this.

It's still not certain, but it looks like I'm headed for the end of a 9-year relationship. I'm 42. I understand and respect the fact that many people are very happy being single, and I'm perfectly capable of living by myself (actually, I've lived by myself my entire adult life - I've always lived separately from my partners).

But having a life partner is very important to me, and I would like to finally find one. And no, I don't believe that all relationships have a sell-by date (other than death, of course), or that human beings are "designed" not to be monogamous.

So - could you let me know about your stories of finding your partner later in life, to cheer me up? Thanks in advance!!

Also - forgot to mention. I have no children, which I think is relevant.

My DP was 49 when we met, 54 when we got together 'properly'.

He says I was the one he was waiting for all his life. Oh man, we're blissfully happy.

I'm 44, by the way. It's never too late.
