POF online status - how does it actually work?

Talking to a guy who I have no reason to think is lying but the app shows him online a lot more than he says he is. I’m not naive but I wonder how accurate it actually is as it’s not the first time it’s happened. Am I just talking to liars or is there another reason eg leaving the app open? Be very interested to hear real life experiences of this.

I think you have to actually log out, rather than just closing the browser window. If you navigate elsewhere while staying logged in, then it shows you as online.

Apparently the mobile app can show up as online when connected to wifi or data. I saw someone was 'online' when he couldn't possibly have been.

Why does POF show I’m online when I’m actually only on Facebook? Everytime I get on Facebook it shows I’m active on POF.

POF makes me "online" at about 5.30-6.30am. Not every morning, but quite a few as these are the times that I get messages on a regular basis.

If you don't believe what he's telling you, even at this point, that's more important than how the app works. You're essentially checking up on him, and it doesn't sound like you've even met yet.
