A mum of 2 and in a middle of an acrimonious divorce battling with our finances and child arrangements. Sadly and unfortunately still living under the same roof for the last 3 years this has been going on until present and really feel I have had enough but nowhere to go. No family here in the UK I can turn to and friends aren't in a position to help. Savings all drained and currently off work because of being physically unfit to work.
I have two upcoming court dates - one for financial and second one for children's matters since I am petitioning for the kids to join me while I move to another EU country. Solicitor has pretty much told me my case is too complex and will require a barrister to handle the case or even just have a conference which apparently will cost me between £1000-2000 for one meeting. I simply cannot afford it so have read up on McKenzie Friend and wondered what do they exactly do??? They don't seem to be qualified but from reading on their write ups on their website, it seem to be a cheaper option. I don't really know what else to do.
I feel the Justice system here in the UK is not really Justice but rather who's got the money and who's able to afford to pay solicitors.
I was in court a few weeks ago to be told by the judge that my case was so thin and that I had wasted my husband's money by applying through the courts for my kids to come live with me and that being a primary carer doesn't apparently matter now and it was pointless carrying on with the whole litigation. Bearing in mind it was only the first hearing and no evidence or statement had been presented yet.
It rather feels like a dead-end when you are on your own and regardless that you are a Naturalised British Citizen, the colour of your skin still prevails and this judge still sides on the Natural born UK citizen.
