Maintenance payment query

My youngest DD starts university this week and I had my final child benefit payment for her today. It was roughly half of the usual amount, my child maintenance agreement states that I should receive maintenance from my exH on the 17th of each month. However, I’ve just checked the dates and it states that it is payable until the 4th September. I’m assuming that is linked to the final child benefit payment but I am not sure if I am entitled to a partial payment from him from the period 17th August - 4th September?
EXH is the most difficult and awkward individual you could ever meet so unfortunately an adult discussion with him is not an option! Can anyone help with this?

Was it paid in advance or arrears? If it's in advance for 17th August to 4th September then half seems about right. If arrears from 17th July to 17th August then he's wrong. You'll need to check your paperwork.

Thanks for responding. It doesn’t say anywhere on the paper work whether it’s in advance or arrears. Just that x amount will be payable on the 17th of the month starting from 17th month after the sale of the marital home. This was on the 2nd August 2016 and the first payment I received was on 17th August 2017.
