Illnesses - how to tell someone?

I wasn't sure where to put this. I have recently been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis - it has been a rollercoaster few weeks. I was thinking this morning about how and when to tell future partners and was wondering if anyone had any advice or experience of this?

Sorry to hear your diagnosis but perhaps you feel a sense of relief to know what's wrong? What type of MS? And just be upfront about it. Those that mind won't matter and those that matter won't mind.

My diagnosis is PPMS. Not really a sense of relief as I was mistakenly told everything was fine just a few days before the diagnosis.

The last line of your paragraph is what I am thinking, but then I am also frightened everyone will run a mile.

It's a shitty condition to have. How awful you were told everything was okay.

A friend lives with it. She has good days and bad but she has relapsing and remitting not primary progressive. Have you accessed the MS support forum?

I'm not sure when I'd tell someone, probably early on in case they run away. I'd have some leaflets to give them unless they know of it they might not realise what it really is. They will only know about people who are struggling with it, not living normal lives.
